ALBANY, GA (WALB) -  In the last week gas prices in southwest Georgia have fallen five cents to an average of $2.35 for a gallon of regular.

According to AAA's Daily Fuel Gauge Report the prices are down as much as 13¢ in the last month in southwest Georgia and Albany's price per gallon is less than the national average at $2.57.

Station owners say they're seeing more drivers filling up at the cheaper price and expect prices to remain steady barring and hurricanes or other problems affecting oil production.

"No reason that I'm aware of other than what you said there's no major catastrophes going on in the world right now," said service station owner Tom Gieryic of Gieryic's Citgo.

Gas prices could bottom out toward the end of the year when stations change to the winter blend in November which tends to be a little cheaper to produce.
