ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A customer service hotline for local government information is up and running in Albany. An extra large phone was lowered down from the second floor at the Government center Tuesday morning for the grand opening of 311.

It's a service for city and county residents and Water, Gas and Light customers who have questions about anything that relates to local government... a way to simplify the bureaucracy. It's been running for about a week, but Tuesday was the ribbon cut to launch the new service fully.

The actual 311 number isn't ready yet, So for now you need to dial 878-3111.
