LOWNDES COUNTY, GA (WALB) - A Lowndes County man was shot in the leg and his wife was tied up during a home invasion.

Deputies says two or three men kicked the door in of a home on Lucas Richardson Road around midnight.

The men tied up Marie Foster with a towel in her living room then went into a bedroom and shot her husband Michael in the leg.

The invaders took cash and a small safe.

"They went in and did not face any opposition from the victims and immediately just shot him," said Capt. Wanda Edwards, Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

Foster was treated for his leg wound at South Georgia Medical Center and has been released. Deputies are searching for the home invaders.
