Albany- Miller Brewing Company is no longer hiring because of a possible tax increase on beer. The governor is proposing a twenty-four cent increase on beer, and tax increases translate into lower sales and a slump in production. This is why Miller has imposed a hiring freeze.

Paul DeLoach with Miller Brewing company says, "We have a depressed economy now, and we hope legislators will realize what increasing alcohol taxes will do to the economy and Miller Brewing."

Miller had planned to hire almost twenty workers. Deloach says the tax increase will change the cost of beer per barrel from $1.05 to $1.25.
