LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) - The Albany area older worker of the year was honored at a special reception Friday afternoon.

Phil Ragsdale accepted the award at Grand Island where he works.

He maintains the golf course, but he also volunteers his time to coordinate special events at the club.

"I work in maintenance I cut grass and change pins and whatever else the superintendent wants me to do," said Phil Ragsdale, Older Worker of the Year.

Grand Island was named older employer of the year for hiring and retaining older workers in southwest Georgia.

They have 24 employees, ten of them are older than 55.
