TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Some south Georgia skaters are raising money to build a place for them to enjoy their sport.
They kicked off a campaign at the Jeff Fender dealership today to raise money for the Skate Park of Tifton, or "SPOT."
They'll move the "The Spot" signs from location to location for a donation.
"What we've done here with the swimming pool, we how much money that brings in I think we can do the same with a skate park," said Tift Myers, Jeff Fender Sales Associate.
"I don't mean this in a bad way but I'm a senior citizen I don't need to be walking down the sidewalk with kids skating they need their own place, it's safer for them and for me," Les Simpson, Retired Professor.
A Jeff Fender sales associate and a retired ABAC professor made a donation.
They need to raise more than $100,000.
They have about $6,000 now and hope to get the city's help.
