ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County Sheriff's Investigators want to warn you about a scam they've seen lately involving Craigslist on the Internet.

Phony Checks like this, claiming to be from Pegasus Solutions, a real company from Dallas, Texas, have been mailed

to people selling cars on Craigslist. The company says they want to buy the car, but sends a check for around 900 dollars more than the price of the car. They ask the seller to deposit the check, and wire the balance back to them. Of course the check bounces, and your money is gone.

Dougherty County Sheriff's Office Captain Craig Dodd said "You need to be extremely careful who you deal with on the Internet. There is a lot of people out there to rip you off. If it sounds too good to be true, Mom was right."

Sheriff's Investigators say Pegasus Solutions, the legitimate company, is hearing from victims from all across the United States, and they know many South Georgians are being targeted.
