Farmers are Internet savvy

Albany-- For the first time, more farmers are using the internet for advice on how to grow their crops than those who don't.

Since they live in rural areas, farmers have been considered some of the least likely to use computers.

But it's no longer true. That was evident at this month's Georgia Farm and Peanut Show where most every exhibitor had computerized demonstrations.

"That's what the growing group that's out there wants, they are technical and we need to give them that kind of information," said Technical Specialist Herb Young.

Bayer Crop Science was using their simulations to help farmers choose the best pesticides to avoid diseases like black rot and the tomato wilt virus.
