(Camp Lejeune, North Carolina-AP) -- Military officials at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina confirm the arrests of two Marines in an investigation of parachute sabotage. The two are being held in the brig but have not been charged.

The alleged tampering happened before a jump last September. Three Marines were hurt when their main parachutes failed, forcing them to use the reserve chutes.

Officials later determined that suspension lines on more than a dozen chutes had been cut, but repacked to look like they were OK.

Agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service say their investigation is nearly complete.
