ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The wildfires in California have exhausted the resources of firefighters in the Golden State.

But now they're getting some help from around the country, including here in Georgia.

The Georgia Department of Forestry has already sent one firefighter to California.

And two more groups of 20 are getting set to make their way there to help battle the blazes. The reinforcements will be helping to carve out fire breaks. It's not the first time that Georgia firefighters have helped out their brothers this year.

"We have several people out in Texas at this time. West Texas has been real active and even in the Austin area, it's been real dry and they've had a lot of fire activity in the southern part of Texas," said Tom Lambert, Chief Forest Ranger for Dougherty and Lee Counties.>

Lambert said that in the 2007 wildfire in the Okefenokee Swamp, firefighters from as far away as Alaska came to Georgia to help fight that blaze.
