ALBANY -- Would you like some money? Chances are you qualify for up to $20 from a settlement with music distributers and retailers, but time is running out to sign up.
Attorneys general in 43 states settled with major record labels to pay more than $140 million in cash and cds for price fixing violations. They found the companies were conspiring to keep cd prices artificially high. Mike Myler has been in business nearly a decade in Albany selling used CDs to consumers who can't afford new cd prices.
"Right now they are pretty high, this gives people the opportunity to buy for lower price, they are usually happy with it," the CD Exchange owner said.
You qualify for a refund if you bought any new cd between 1995 and 2000. You can access a claim form at www.musiccdsettlement.com. The deadline is March 3.
