ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A downtown business owner, who worked out a secret deal with fired ADICA director Don Buie, now says he wants to stay downtown.

Tim Washington told Assistant City Manager James Taylor today he wants to keep his Dollar Square store open on Jackson Street. He's says he'll pay the $700 a month rent he originally agreed to, and he'll pay back a $40,000 façade grant he received from former ADICA Director Don Buie without board approval.

ADICA still must pay the county almost $2100 a month in rent on the location. Washington hasn't paid ADICA anything since he moved in, and he did not offer to back rent.

Wednesday night, the ADICA board voted to evict him and order him to pay back rent. Taylor says he'll take Washington's new proposal back to the board.
