THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Cairo and Thomas County Central match up Friday night with both football teams looking for their first win of the season.

The Syrupmakers are coming off a loss to Bainbridge while the Yellow Jackets are coming off their first loss to Thomasville since 2000.

Cairo and TCC played last year and the Syrupmakers won convincingly 28 to 6.

Yellow Jacket Head Coach Bill Shaver says the key for his team to get in the win column this week will be execution on offense.

"So we've got to do a little better job blocking a little better job with our reads with the quarterbacks and we had a couple passes that we dropped. So we're just trying to find some rhythm on offense. Cairo's not gonna surprise you on defense they're just gonna play hard and tackle well" said Shaver.

Shaver says motivation won't be an issue for this game.

"They beat you last year and they're the defending state champs from triple A and there just one of our big rivals so having that coming after a loss makes you kind of get back up pretty quick" said Shaver.

Cairo and Thomas County Central kick off at 7:30 Friday night in Cairo.
