ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For the second time in five days copper thieves struck the East Albany Boys and Girls Club and Girls Inc. Building, leaving kids in the after school program without air conditioning.
Empty shells are all that's left of two four-ton air conditioning units at the Inverness Road building where more than 200 students go every day after school.
Friday two large units were stripped and destroyed.
Tuesday afternoon they discovered the other two a-c units were also stripped for the copper.
Replacing the units could cost the non-profit groups close to 40-thousand dollars.
Boys and Girls Club of Albany Director of Operations Bob Hutchinson said "It is distasteful. It is just unbelievable that a person could be that low. To come in here and do something this low to two organizations that are trying to do good for this community."
