AUGUSTA, GA (AP) - A murder suspect who has been jailed was released from a Georgia prison earlier in the year.
Georgia Department of Corrections records show 24-year-old Kelvin Steffor Johnson was released from Rogers State Prison in Reidsville after serving 16 months of a three-year sentence on a forgery conviction.
Johnson is being held without bond at the Richmond County Jail. He's accused of fatally shooting a Hephzibah woman, wounding her husband and robbing them of household items and a pickup truck Wednesday night.
Richmond County Sheriff's Sgt. Calvin Crew said deputies arrested Johnson Thursday morning.
He is charged with murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and possessing a firearm during a crime.
Martha Greene was killed in the shooting. Her husband, Tilman Coley "T.C." Greene, was shot in the mouth and is recovering.
