ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Salvation Army leaders in Albany want to make sure you know they are still open for business and need your support.

Because of budget and staffing cuts, the office had to close for one day last week.

They simply didn't have anyone to man the office last Monday. They were back up and running the next day, but apparently some people thought the closure was permanent.

"Because of cutbacks we had to cut back two members of the staff, because of that social services had to close on that Monday, but it's normally open every day of the week," said Capt. Doug McClure, Salvation Army.

The salvation started serving the Albany area in 1919. They say about 70 people call or come to them for help each day.

To help you can call the Salvation Army at (229) 435-1428.
