ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Tuesday night Albany city commissioners voted not to use an outside consultant to help hire of a new downtown manager.

They're angry that Slavin Management Consultants didn't uncover Don Buie's criminal record and recommended him for the job.

Buie was recently fired amid an investigation into financial mismanagement.

The commission authorized the city manager to handle the process, though several commissioners said the city should hold off filling the position.

The commission also approved a letter to the Inner City Authority board requesting they reclaim any misappropriated money and that they not spend any money without the city commission's approval.
