THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Thomas University has the highest enrollment in the school history.

991 students signed up for classes for fall semester.

That's a 10% increase from last year. Over the last three years, student enrollment has increased by about 35%.

"Part of it's due to the economy. People are trying to reinvent themselves and going back to school. And I think the biggest part is Thomas University is becoming the school of choice in the region for our nursing, counseling, business, education, and criminal justice programs,"said Micky West, Director of Enrollment at the college.

TU is a private college so they aren't experiencing budget cuts, and is doing well because of the high enrollment.

And every student who applied for scholarship this year, received one.  School officials anticipate enrollment to reach 1100 this spring.
