Coffee Rebuilding

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - In his first season as head football coach at Coffee Ken Eldridge led the Trojans to the state quarterfinals.

Getting back won't be an easy task for Eldridge in year number two.

The Trojans have 10 starters to replace on offense and six on defense.

"Obviously it's a real challenge competing in this region and realistically it doesn't matter what region your in or what classification when you lose that many starters you've got a lot of guys that have to step up and step up to the plate and fufill what this team and this program is trying to build around here" said Eldridge.

Offensive tackle Garrett Scott is the only starter returning to the offense.

Eldridge says Carter Adams and Will Gardner are both competing for playing time at quarterback.

Defensively the Trojans return linebacker Pierre Moody, defensive lineman Todd Grady, and corner Pernell Williams.

Coach Eldrige is hoping his new starters can grow up in a hurry and says that the goals at Coffee never change.

"Our goals are always going to be the same and that's to obviously get into the playoffs number one and if winning a region championship happens to come with that then that would be great but we've just got to get in the playoffs and find a way to fight scratch and claw" said Eldridge.

The Trojans kick off the season August 28th at home against Ware County. Kick off is set for 8:00.
