ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Of the 24 million acres of timber land in Georgia 92% are privately owned and the state wants your opinion about the conditions of trees and other issues regarding those areas.
The state has prepared an online survey to gather information about forest-related conditions, trends and threats.
Your input will guide the forestry commission in how to strategically manage the state's forestry resources.
The survey is a requirement of the 2008 Farm bill.
The information will be included in a comprehensive analysis of rural and urban forest landscapes which will be submitted in 2010.
