ALBANY, GA (WALB) - New developments in the fatal shooting of an Americus man.

Police have arrested one person, but he's not charged with murder. Cornelius Lewis is only charged with aggravated assault, and investigators won't explain why. Nineteen year old Courtney Jones was killed as he sat in the driver's seat of an SUV on Cherokee Street in Americus around 11:00 PM Thursday night. His passenger, 25 year old Gilbert Brown, was also shot and remains in intensive care. Police arrested Lewis but won't say much about his involvement. They're questioning other suspects.

"We're still trying to find out the details of exactly what transpired at the location," said Americus Police Chief James Green.

Anyone with information on the shooting is urged to call the Americus Police Department.
