ALBANY -- With the cold weather, frozen pipes and busted sprinkler heads are likely, unless you take some precautions. At AAA Sprinklers they say you need to do more than shut off your sprinklers. You need to drain them as well, to depths below ground level. Leaving your sprinkler on, will also cause problems.
Richard Michels says, "It hurts the plants, can ice walks, and with overspray on the roads it can be dangerous."
With the pipes connected to faucets though, it's different. You should leave them running on a slow drip to avoid them freezing and bursting. To keep your home from flooding, you can also protect your pipes with some heat tape available at most department stores.
