ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More bad news on the job front in Georgia. The unemployment rate is up again to 10.3% in July. That's an increase of two-tenths from June.
Close to a half million Georgians are now looking for work. We found the Goodwill Career Center in Albany busy with folks looking for work. Felica Swanigan has been job hunting for three months using every resource she can.
She said, "I come here, I go to the library and I go to the Department of Labor daily, spent 3, 4 hours each. Internet, I go by job signs, foot work. Plenty of foot work."
The July jobless rate was up more than four points from the same time last year. Georgia's unemployment rate has been above the national rate for 21 consecutive months.
