TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Tift County head football coach Jay Walls is hoping to lead the Blue Devils to the playoffs for a fifth straight season.

It won't be an easy task with only five starters returning from last year's team.

Quarterback Malcom Dixon returns for his senior season and will be protected by three returning linemen in Lawrence Cooper, Ryan Pupp, and Dylan Gray.

On defense only one starter returns in corner Micah McCant.

Coach Walls says the inexpierience doesn't change the goals for his team.

"Our goal is to win the region and then from there win in the playoffs and then we certainly want to strive to win the state championship. We work hard year round" said Walls.

The key for the Blue Devils will be getting production from inexpeirienced players.

I think offensively with the guys we've got coming back and some of the new guys coming up I think we can be successful. Defensively we've got to have some young guys overcome inexperience and step up to the plate so to speak" said Walls.

Tift County will visit Ware County Friday night for a scrimmage before opening up the season at Roswell on August 28th.
