ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Gas thieves crashed into a Dougherty County convenience store owner who tried to block their escape with his car.

25 year old Jay Patel's Honda was rammed on the driver's door when he used the car to try to block the gas thieves.

Just before eight Tuesday night, three people in a Ford Explorer pumped $52 worth of gas at his Newton Road convenience store, then cranked up to leave without paying.

Patel got into his car and followed them to a driveway on Lily Pond Road, where the Explorer turned around.

When Patel blocked the exit with his car, they crashed into him and sped off. He chased them, but lost them at Oakridge and Jackson.
