Good news for tornado victims

January 21, 2003

Lee County- Tuesday the Lee County Board of Commissioners voted to approve all temporary emergency dwellings for families who are trying to rebuild their houses.

Commissioners also decided to waive permit fees for the homeowners. Some families may also receive federal aid.

"There was a small grant made available from GEMA to help folks who are seriously damaged. If you had minimal damage you could get $1,200. If you had major damage you could get $1,800," says County Administrator, Langford Holbrook.

Lee county was declared to be in a state-of-emergency after tornados blew through the area on Christmas Eve morning.
