Terrell County has new cast but bigger goals

DAWSON, GA (WALB) - Terrell County football coach William Huff has changed the perception of the Eagles athletic program in just ten years. The Greenwave are no longer just a basketball school.

Terrell County has posted winning records in three of the last four years and has been to the state playoffs in each of those three seasons.

Not bad for a team that had back to back winless seasons six years ago.

For the Greenwave to have a fourth winning season, they are going to need some young players to step up in a rebuilding year.

Head coach Williams Huff says freshman Jacory Scott is set to be the Greenwave's starting quarterback and Alvin Browns and Basheer Rogers are will carry the ball.

Defensive back/wide receiver Javonte Peters is an all-star candidate.

The coach is hoping past success will help his young players grow up quickly.

William Huff said. "The kids have bought into the work ethic. We really work hard. We have had some great offseasons the last four or five years. It makes a difference late in the season. Time to play those tough teams traditional powers and we are now holding our own and being successful."

Terrell County opens the season at home against Schley County.
