(Tifton-AP) -- James and Linda Harrell say they each suffered the loss of a murdered parent when they were young. When they heard that two brothers had been robbed and killed while volunteering at a home for troubled boys, there was only one thing to do -- turn in their grandson.
The Harrells say they had an obligation to give the Georgia Bureau of Investigation information that led to the arrest of their grandson -- 21-year-old Donnie "D. J." Hulett Junior.
Hulett is accused of killing 62-year-old Larry Phelps and 69-year-old Arvine Phelps. Their bodies were found July 22nd. They had been shot while clearing brush near the Mountain Top Boys Home in Villanow.
Linda Harrell was six years old when her mother was found shot to death in their home in Macon in 1951.
James Harrell was 16 when his father was found dead in his tractor-trailer on the side of a highway. His family believes he was probably robbed by a hitchhiker.
The couple says they can understand how the Phelps feel and wanted to come forward with the facts. Hulett may face the death penalty on murder charges.
