TURNER CO. -- A Turner County couple will compete for the U.S. Farm Bureau's Young farm family of the year this weekend.

Melanie and Scotty Raines are already Georgia's young farmers of the year, and will head to Tampa Saturday to compete for the national title. They say on their 2,000 acres, raising cattle, and growing peanuts and corn is a family affair.

Melanie Raines said "We have two daughters, shows a lot where clothes and food come from, you can learn a lot about life itself by living on a farm."

Competitors are judged on the progress they make towards their goals. The age limit for young farmers is 36. The Raines say they hope to win this year, since it's their last year of eligibility.
