ALBANY, GA (WALB) - City and County governments in Dougherty County are closer to a vote on consolidation.  In two weeks, experts from the Carl Vinson Institute of Government will present their findings on how a consolidated government in Albany/Dougherty County would impact the community.

County Chairman Jeff Sinyard today sent invitations to all city commissioners hoping that both bodies can make an informed decision and vote on the issue soon.

City Commissioner Dorothy Hubbard said, "I think there's a real opportunity for us to get together and really discuss it, what we want to do and what we would like to see happen."

In addition to city and county leaders, members of the original consolidation charter group have been invited to attend the session with the Carl Vinson institute.
