VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -  A man was arrested for taking a concealed weapon into a Valdosta hospital Saturday. South Georgia medical Center was on lockdown as police investigated.

They say 29-year-old Tamaras McCoggle was sitting in the lobby waiting to visit a sick relative around 6:00PM when three men walked up to him and started arguing with him. The men asked McCoggle to go outside.

"We don't know what vehicle they left in but we do have someone that's working on the incident so we are gathering information now. This was not a random act. These folks knew each other," said VPD Captain Bobbi McGraw.

Police are still investigating, but they say they did not file kidnapping charges because McCoggle did not hold anyone at gunpoint. He then pulled out a gun, and the men left before police arrived.

McCoggle was charged with a misdemeanor for a carrying a concealed handgun because he did not have a permit to carry the weapon.
