Dougherty County-- Lawmakers are considering making it legal for you to shoot them.
Long time gardener James Miller says he has deer eat vegetables and plants in his garden often. The proposed bill would let private gardeners like him kill deer out of season, if he gets a permit from the Department of Natural Resources.
"Well, they won't come back if you shoot them," Miller says. "The deer are a nuisance, there's too many of them."
The bill's sponsor, Representative Curtis Jenkins of Forsyth, says repellents and electric fences can be expensive and are not effective.
Currently, only commercial farmers are allowed to kill deer year round if they are eating their crops.
