ALBANY, GA (WALB) - As thousands of college students head back to school in Albany this month, one school is making history.

208 students will be the first to live in the Darton Commons student apartments.

It's a big deal for Darton College since they've never had housing for students on campus in the past.

Family members helped David Cortez move in this morning, he's a freshman at the school this year and likes the new living quarters.

"Walk-in closet, working refrigerator and I'm a little off the wall so I can study easy so I like that, very nice I never before lived in so I'll definitely benefit," David Cortez, Darton Freshman.

"The building is filled we've got a waiting list and what we're so excited about is our enrollment is over five thousand," said Krista Robitz, Darton College Communications Dir.

School leaders say this dorm is unique from most schools. All 208 students have an individual bathroom.

Darton will hold an official grand opening later this month.
