LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - This is not only the first week of practice for high school football teams.

It is also the start for high school softball.

The Lee County Lady Trojans are ready to get to work.

Lady Trojans are coming off two straight elite eight appearances and are going after a fourth straight region title.

The Lady Trojans have seven starters return but must find a new ace on the mound after the graduation of pitcher Brittny Dennison.

Coach Avery says the Lady Trojans program has reached the point where just making the elite eight in Columbus is no longer satisfactory.

Lynn Avery said. "And of course we want to make it to the elite eight and yes they would like to do better. We're just gonna work as hard as we can and see what we can do."

Lee County softball starts the 2009 season August 18th at Tift County.
