ALBANY, GA (WALB) - For the Lowndes High Vikings the start of August means eating, sleeping, and breathing football.
The Vikings wrapped up a four day camp at Georgia Southwestern Tuesday in Americus.
The Vikings have 15 starters back but have some big cleats to fill as well. Georgia player of the year Greg Reid and safety Gerald Demps are both begining camp at Florida State.
Head Coach Randy McPherson is confident his players are ready to step up to the challenge.
"It's somebody else's turn now. We've got kids that have been in the program. It's there turn to get out there and compete" said McPherson.
Lowndes went 12-0 last season before losing in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs to Grayson.
"We had a great year, we did but we felt like we could have done better. We did, the kids did, the coaches did. And it was a disappointing end and the kids are definitely more hungry this year".
Lowndes will host Thomas County Central for a scrimmage on August 21st before opening up the season at home on August 28th against Woodland.Feedback
