ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The city of Tifton is getting out of the cable and internet business.

CityNet has been sold to Plant Telecommunications. City leaders call the deal a win-win for city government and citizens. They believe competition between Plant Telecommunications and Mediacom could amount to lower internet and cable rates.

All of Plant Telecommunications services will be headquartered in Tifton. The sale is expected to be finalized September 9th.
