State Champion Syrupmakers have rebuilding ahead

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Cairo head coach Tom Fallaw and his staff have their work cut out for them this August.

The Syrupmakers lost 19 seniors who not only led Cairo to the AAA state title last year but over the last three years won 37 games and finished state runner-up two years ago.

Coach Fallaw says Brian Walker is ready for his turn to run the offense and junior Laquinton Williams is going to be counted to on to lead the Syrupmaker ground attack.

The Syrupmakers defense should be just as tough even with ten new starters.

Coach Fallaw says with so many new starters the focus is just to get ready for their first game.

Tom Fallaw said. "We are fortunately enough to win it. We had the talent. We had the coaching and everything came together. I don't know if we are going to be able to put it together this year but we are going to try."

Cairo opens the season August 22nd at home against Bainbridge.
