THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A Thomasville man ran out of gas while leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle.

Officers say 40-year-old Willie Cook took a Ford Explorer from S & B Auto Sales on a joyride just after five Sunday afternoon.

He's an employee at S & B, but the business was closed.

The owner saw Cook's bicycle at the business and realized the Explorer was missing.

When Thomasville Police found Cook and tried to pull him over, he kept going. When the SUV ran out of gas, Cook ran.

He was arrested at the corner of Magnolia and Plum Streets.  He's charged with several traffic violations, auto theft, and assault on a police officer.
