ALBANY, GA (WALB) -A well-known former Dougherty County high school teacher and coach received a scam phone call and wants to let you know that con men are trying to steal your money.
Rex Lynch got a phone call at his home from someone claiming to be from VISA.
But Lynch says the caller was just trying to fool him into giving his credit card information.
"This guy comes on with a foreign accent, stating that would I be interested in a 6.99 percent interest rate on my credit card. Of course I'm interested, but right away I'm leery of it," Lynch said.
Lynch said the man asked for his credit card number and personal information.
When Lynch called the man a crook, and he hung up.
Lynch worries other South Georgians will get a similar call, and he reminds you not to give your personal information or account numbers.
