Lee County-- No one has signed up to run for a vacant Leesburg Commission seat. Commissioner Morris Leverrett resigned from Post Six in October. Qualifying for the position started Monday, but no one has paid the $54.00 qualifying fee. If no one signs up by Wednesday's deadline, it will be extended.

Elections Supervisor Veronica Johnson says, "If for some reason no one qualifies, city will run an ad in the paper again, hold qualifying longer and hopefully someone will step up to serve the community."

Leesburg residents, who have lived within city limits for at least 12 months, are eligible. Qualifying ends Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
