K-Mart restructuring

Valdosta - Although Albany's store has been spared from the K-Mart shutdown, another South Georgia store is not as lucky.

Valdosta's K-Mart is on the list of the 326 stores to be closed due to company bankruptcy. The store employees an estimated 200 people.

In November 2000, Valdosta's K-Mart was shut down but reopened in June 2001. The store is expected to shut down permanently in two to three months. 

Here are the 16 K-Mart stores in Georgia which will be closed: 

   Big K, 5300 Cherokee St., Acworth 

   Big K, 2656 Atlanta Highway, Athens 

   Big K, 520 Lakeland Plaza, Cumming 

   Big K, 3625 Sweetwater Road, Duluth 

   Super K, 889 Dawsonville Highway, Gainesville 

   Big K, 1424 North Expressway, Griffin 

   Big K, 110 Commerce Ave., LaGrange 

   Big K, 1901 Paul Walsh Drive, Macon 

   Big K, 56 Bullsboro, Newnan 

   Big K, 4975 Jimmy Carter Blvd., Norcross 

   Big K, 5925 Roswell Road N.E., Sandy Springs 

   Big K, 1901 E. Victory Drive, Savannah 

   Big K, 3630 Peachtree Parkway, Suwanee 

   Super K, 1106 North St. Augustine, Valdosta 

   Big K, 17 Monroe Highway, Winder 

   Big K, 550 Molly Lane, Woodstock
