ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty football head coach Charles Flowers has high hopes for his 3rd year with the Trojans.

Dougerty went 6-5 in 2008 and made the state playoffs for the first time since 2005.

Quarterback Felton Walls is off to Fort Valley State and will need to be replaced but Flowers is confident in the abilities of Shawroski Griffin to play under center.

All-region runningback Arabian Williams returns to round out the backfield with fellow RB Ezekiel Knowles. The Trojans' offensive line returns three starters, and defensively, three starters return in the secondary.

The Trojans have 6 starters back on offense and 7 on defense creating an optimistic head coach.

"We can continue the energy that we have and the enthusiasm we have and continue to work on that team concept, the team concept, team concept, and not have a lot of individual players I think it's gonna make us have a successful season this year" said Flowers.

Dougherty will head to Bainbridge for a scrimmage on August 14th before opening up the season on August 27th against Americus at Hugh Mills Stadium.
