ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A ten point lead for The South Georgia Wildcats at halftime wasn't large enough to equal a playoff win.
The Kentucky Horsemen scored 21 unanwsered in the second half and a touchdown by Jared Lorenzen with 57 seconds to play put Kentucky up for good.
South Georgia had a chance to win on its' final possession when Clenton Rafe was unable to hang on to a pass from Darnell Kennedy in the endzone.
The Wildcats could have attempted a game tieing field goal attempt but head coach Rodney Blackshear opted to go for the win.
Kennedy's pass was tipped and Kentucky took over on downs.
The Horsemen won 66-63 and after the game the Wildcats weren't making excuses.
"I blew it for the guys I should have tried the field goal. I wanted to go for the win because I knew that they had a pretty good kicker too. We had the right play called but they tipped the ball and I'm not going to guarantee that Savage would have caught it but the bottom line is they fought they didn't give up throughout the game and obviously the better team won tonight" said Blackshear.
"We thought we were going to win this game and the way this game was going it seemed like we were and it just didn't go our way I guess. It's hard to say. It's just hard" said QB Darnell Kennedy.
"We just blew it I mean it happens that's arena football, it's a fast paced game. In one moment it can change so quick. You just have to take it and roll with it" said DB Demetrie McCray.
