Four weeks from Thursday the Albany State Rams will open the 2009 football season at Chowan University.Rams head coach Mike White and his staff are excited about the Rams chances this fall.
Players will report for camp on Tuesday and the first practice is next Thursday.
Head coach Mike White says camp should be very exciting because there will be competition for every starting position.
The big battle will be quarterback between A.J. McKenna and Wayne Campbell.
The Rams will have talent in the backfield with Demetriece Johnson and Kareem Hess joined by LiRonnie Davis.
Davis missed the 2008 season due to grades.
However, coach Mike White says running back Gary Nevins will not be playing this fall due to academics.
The Rams will need a deep roster since SIAC coaches have picked them to win the conference title.Head coach Mike White said. "I am not sure what exactly that means. The other coaches think we are going to be good. We think we are going to be good. That comes along with the territory. We just have got to take care of business on the field." The Rams will host their annual preseason football reception Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Eula Lovett Hall at the Albany Municipal Coliseum.
