City Commissioners vote for speed bumps

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany man is fed up with speeders charging through his neighborhood.

Tuesday night, Albany City Commissioners came up with a temporary fix.

Keith Thomas lives along Lullwater Road in the Lake Park neighborhood.

Last year, two people crashed into people's yards in the area.  One ended up in a house.

Tuesday night, commissioners voted to put temporary speed bumps in the area to slow down drivers.

"The problem is, on certain roads that are cut through roads, they lend themselves to speeding. They're cut through roads for a reason; It's a quick point from A to B. The more critical component to this is coming up with a long-term solution. The temporary is just that. It is only temporary," said Keith Thomas.

Albany Police started monitoring the area at the beginning of this year.

Thomas says they've already handed out more than 100 speeding citations.
