ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Law enforcement officers from several agencies spent the night searching for 21-year old Terail Pittman. This morning, he surrendered.

Tuesday morning, people in the small town of Edison breathed a sigh of relief when police locked up a murder suspect. Police say Terail Pittman shot and killed 19-year old Cyrus Butler in front of the Pure Gas station in Edison Monday afternoon. Tuesday, a family member brought a freshly-shaved Pittman to the Police Department.

"We found out from a lot of folks last night he was in Alabama, somewhere near Dothan, so I spoke to a family member this morning and he said he was on his way over there to go get him," said Josh Hilton, Sheriff of Calhoun County.

Harrison Ford was working at the gas station Monday afternoon when the shooting happened. He was shocked to find out the suspect was also his friend. "To know Terail it had to be really something to piss him off that I know of because like I say, he was a quiet type he was laid back so for him to do that it had to be something really bad."

Police say they still do not know why the shooting happened and have yet to discover a relationship between the victim and the shooter.

A close friend of Pittman's who asked to remain anonymous says he also didn't know Cyrus Butler or why Pittman would shoot him. "We really didn't know the other dude because he just came down here or whatever."

"I didn't even know this was going down, I mean this is in the street vine, because you know it started way before this happened up here. They had a confrontation before they come up here, that's what I heard," said Harrison.

The sheriff says Pittman had been in trouble for a few minor offenses over the years, but nothing to this magnitude. He is charged with Murder and Aggravated assault.

Police are still looking for another suspect who may have been in the car at the time of the shooting.
