Dogs still alive after apparently killing a boy

January 10, 2003

Thomasville - Three dogs who apparently mauled a seven-year-old Thomasville boy to death are still alive Friday night.

The Great Dane, Black Lab and Chesapeake Bay are still at the Thomas County Humane Society. Executive Director Pat Smith says they're waiting for an expert to compare bite marks on Jeremy Beckwith's body with the dog's teeth before they put the animals to sleep.

Autopsy results confirmed the boy died of a broken neck. Smith says none of the dogs has shown any signs of being vicious.
