Valdosta - A South Georgia battered women's center is offering a new support program for rape victims.
The Haven in Valdosta opened their new Rape Crisis Center Friday. Victims can come to the center after a rape occurs and be fully examined by a registered nurse in a private, comfortable setting. Victims also have the choice of whether or not to report the rape to the police.
"It will be a lot more private here," said Karen Mortenson, Rape Crisis Center Director. "There will only be 3 people here when the examination occurs and it will be a lot more comfortable than a hospital."
The new Rape Crisis Center is located inside the Haven on Adair Street.
