Cable rates going up

January 9, 2003

Albany - If you're a Mediacom customer in the Albany area, you may see a change on next month's bill.

If you have Family Cable services, also known as Expanded Basic, starting February first, rates will go up six dollars from 33.95 to 39.95. But, along with the increase cable rates, you will also get 13 more channels like History Channel, TV Guide and Turner Classic Movies.

The only other increase will be seen on Home Wire Maintenance Plan, an added 95 cents.

Mediacom officials say the increase in rates are due to an increase in programming costs. The added channels are expensive.
