LEE COUNTY, GA (WALB) - State Representative Ed Rynders has been named Chairman of an important House Transportation Subcommittee to help decide who will make long term decisions on Georgia roads.

Rynders, who represents portions of Lee and Dougherty Counties, has been named the Chairman of the House Transportation Subcommittee on Approval of the director of planning.

The next legislative session promises a lot of political maneuvering for which region will receive state transportation funds.

Rynders said  "As we go through this process the entire state of Georgia is looked after. I've been an advocate for Southwest Georgia and will continue to do that. I want to make sure we're going to do that. I want to make sure we're going to do what's in the best interest of Southwest Georgia."

Rynder's Subcommittee will choose a Director of Planning for the Georgia Department of Transportation. Next month, the subcommittee is scheduled to being approval hearings for Todd Long, who was appointed by the governor.
